Why I will not think about being world no.1 against Konta

Once more Simona Halep is extremely close from being the new world no.1.

The Romanian sensation was inches away from winning the Roland Garros and being the new world no.1 before losing in the final in Paris in June. Then, Simona had another chance in Eastbourne, but she lost in the quarters to Caroline Wozniacki.

On Tuesday, Halep will have another opportunity to conquer the top of the rankings if she defeats Jo Konta in the Wimbledon quarters.

I am not thinking about the rankings. HALEP

The Romanian is taking full advantage of her experience to say that she will try to “just” win the match against Konta without thinking about the rankings.

Simona commented

“I want to win more, not just one match. So, I’m not thinking about that. I’m going to need one match. We will see tomorrow. It’s not an easy one. I’m not thinking about the ranking because I was in that situation one more time.

So, I feel that I have more experience and I hope I will not think that much during the match. I just want to go there and to win it. I’m stronger, also mentally and my game. I feel that I play much better than previous years.

I feel confident. I feel that I have a chance always when I go on court. I really believe in myself that I can win every match I play. I think that’s the most important thing in my inside, like in my mind.”

Head to head

Simona and Jo have played each other 4 times. The head to head is 2-2. This is going to be interesting.
