WTA Rankings. Serena consolidates, Jankovic back in the top 10, Stephens and Bouchard at career high.

After an interesting week in Beijing we have some movements in the rankings.

Serena

No movement here (!!!), but Serena is opening quite a wide gap with the rest of the pack. Serena is almost 5000pts away from world no.2 Victoria Azarenka… wow stuff!

Jankovic

Super hot Jelena Jankovic is really getting back to her best tennis to go up 3 spots in the rankings and comeback to the top 10.Now ranked world no.8, he she is injury free she will go for more. Petra Kvitova and Sara Errani are the next targets.

Stephens

Sloane didn’t have a super smashing tournament in China, as she lost in the third round to Caroline Wozniacki with an unceremonious 6-3 6-1, but Marion Bartoli’s collapse in the rankings (well.. she has retired!) helped the young American to achieve a career high (world no.12)

Sloane is now just 10 points shy from Roberta Vinci and a good week in Linz (where she is seeded no.2) would definitely help to get another positioning the rankings.

Bouchard

Genie had also a not very good week in Beijing where she lost to her (will be) super-archi-rival Sloane Stephens 6-1 1-6 6-4. But Genie’s ranking is still low, so she has managed to win another little spot to be ranked world no.35. Genie will now play the tournament in Osaka where she is seeded no. 5. A good performance in Japan would definitely help Genie to get closer to the top30.
