It’s Delpo time!
After so much tribulation and a very good season, Juan Martin qualifies for the WTF in London.
The qualification came after defeating Baker 7-5 6-1.
The first set was a close encounter as the match was just about service. 75% was the magic number as both players won 75% points of their first and second serves with a very high percentages of first serves in (75% for Delpo and 71% for Baker). Eventually Delpo capitalized on the only break point conceded by Brian in the 12th game.
The 2nd set was completely different as Baker’s serve collapsed.
“The beginning was tough for me,” said del Potro. “He played much better than me in the first couple games. He was aggressive, trying to hit a fast ball. In the second set, I found a rhythm in the match and my game started to be more aggressive.
“The tournament is amazing. The crowd is lovely with me and cheering for me all the time. I’m trying to go far in this tournament and I’m looking forward to my next match.”
Delpo will play big server Kevin Anderson in the quarters. Head to head is 3-0 for Juan Martin.
