Bianca describes her emotions ahead of playing a tournament after 15 months

Bianca Andreescu didn’t play a single match in a competition for 15 months. The Canadian sensation had an outstanding 2019 that culminated with her winning the US Open after defeating the great Serena Williams and a rather loud crowd at the Arthur Ashe stadium.

The world no.8 was stopped in 2020 by the knee injury she suffered during the 2019 WTA finals, the pandemic, and some other undisclosed personal issues. Therefore. last year was rather peculiar for Bianca that had to work a lot on her body to avoid suffering from new injuries in her career.

Surprisingly, Bianca decided not to compete in the first WTA event in Abu Dhabi early in January even if she was training in the area (Duba) for almost a month. Things got complicated for her when heading to Melbourne as she had to endure strict confinement without leaving her hotel room for 14 days after her coach tested positive for Coronavirus.

Finally, Bianca has ended her confinement and she is back to the practice court. She will play the so-called Grampians Trophy that is a WTA500 event with a reduced draw (28 players) destined for the players that had to endure a strict quarantine.

During a recent interview, Bianca admitted that she is a bit emotional about getting back to competitions to reveal:

“Honestly the other day, I was tearing up with joy because I’m literally getting ready for a tournament that’s actually going to happen

At the moment ranked no.8, the Canadian played her last match on the 30th of October 2019 when she had to retire when playing against Karolina Pliskova in the round robin and the scoreline was 6-3 .
