Andreescu’s coach says Bianca needs some time off to rehab her knee injury. Surgery?

Bianca Andreescu needs to go through a period of rehab after her knee injury

Bianca Andreescu

19-year-old Bianca Andreescu had a remarkable season that ended with her 1st slam at the US Open. Unfortunately, the world no.5, suffered a sort of curse that is affecting almost the women that won the recent US Open: a horrible end of the season.

In the recent past back in 2018, Naomi Osaka had a terrible run at the WTA Finals after she won the US Open to lose all 3 matches in Singapore, and the last one ended with retirement. Even worse, after Sloane Stephens conquered the US Open, she lost the following 6 matches and she won for the first time after almost 6 months at the very end of February in Acapulco.

Andreescu and her knee injury

Unfortunately, also Bianca had a nightmarish experience at his first WTA Finals in Shenzhen. She lost to Simona Halep in the first match after she was unable to convert a match point. Even worse, in the second match, she had to withdraw after she was badly injured to her left knee when facing Karolina Pliskova. The young Canadian admitted she heard a “crack,” and she was struggling to bend her knee. Everything was pointing to an issue with her meniscus that is a problem that can be corrected with a small surgery.

Bianca’s coach about her recovery

The US Open champion has a fantastic team around her. Bianca’s coach Sylvain Bruneau released some information about her recovery to comment:

“We’re seeing a few doctors now, and it looks like she’s going to need some time off and she’s going to need rehab. But it seems like it will hopefully be under control and it’s not going to be something that’s going to be too serious. So hopefully that’s the case.”
