Carlos Alcaraz explains why he likes on-court coaching

Alcaraz And Tsitsipas

Carlos Alcaraz Garfia has started his run at the Next-Gen finals in the best possible way with a convincing straight-sets win over Holger Rune.

The Spanish sensation is widely considered as the top favorite to win this event. During the press conference that preceded the tournament, Carlito explained why he believed that on-court coaching is a good idea.

“In our sport, there is a lot of coaching. It is really good to talk with your coach when you are playing. I think it is a good idea, at least to try it at this tournament and I think it is a good idea to use in the future. I really like having the coach on court.”

Stefanos Tsitsipas and coaching

Stefanos Tsitsipas has recently expressed the same concept. As of now, on-court coaching is allowed only during WTA events and on the men’s side on the occasion of the Next-Gen finals.

Tennis fans are rather divided about the issue. On one side, it is agreed that a tennis player has to find the solution without any external help. On another, it is difficult not to admit that it is very interesting for the spectators to have some insights during the changeovers when players receive precious hints from their coaches.
