Sharapova and Kvitova lead a rather competitive draw in Paris

Maria and Petra are the top 2 seeds of a surprisingly strong draw.

The Australian Open is just about to finish and we already have an interesting tournament on the other side of the world (Paris).

Maria Sharapova and Petra Kvitova are the top seeds of the 2014 Open GDF Suez followed by Errani, Kerber, Halep, Vinci, Suarez and Flipkens. So we have 4 top 10 players (you can say 5 as Simona Halep will break in the top 10 from the next week).

Maria Sharapova shouldn’t have too much trouble till the semifinal where she is meant to play against world no.9 Angelique Kerber.  (Head to head is 4-1 for Maria).

On the other side of the draw Petra Kvitova has a difficult quarter against Simona Halep and then she might have an easier semi-final against an Italian (either Sara Errani or her best friend Roberta Vinci).

Last year’s winner was Mona Barthel (now world no. 39) that has defeated Sara Errani 7-5 7-6 (4).
