Simona Halep is now used to win all sorts of matches in all kinds of conditions.

The last one was in Cincinnati where she managed to recover from a 0-3 deficit in the decider against Ajla Tomljanovic before winning the encounter 4-6 6-3 6-3.

The weird aspect of this contest was that the match was stopped the day before when the Romanian was leading 4-3 in the 15-30 (on Ajla’s serve). When the match resumed, it got just 5 minutes (and 8 points) for Simona to win.

Simona was expected to play in the following evening the 3rd round against Ashleigh Barty, but eventually, also that match was postponed because of the rain.

Talking about Barty, Simona commented

“It’s a tough opponent. We played in Canada last week, so I expect a tough one. Hopefully, I will be at my highest level of tennis to win the match.”
