2013 didn’t start really well for Vera that had to skip Auckland and the Australian Open for an injury to her shoulder to finally decide to get an operation.
Out for 4 months
According to the Russian tennis federation president Shamil Tarpishchev , “Vera chose a conservative way of treating her injured shoulder, and was ready to train and play in Australia in January. But a council of physicians decided that a surgery was required. After such an operation, she won’t be able to play for four months.”
Rankings
Vera’s ranking went down to world no.147 form a 7th career high. If she comes back she may be unranked… a dangerous floater!
