Radwanska, Kvitova and Errani advance in Dubai

This was a very good day for Agnieszka Radwanska. The Pole survives a scare against the world no. 101, but she is now the highest seed in the draw after Azarenka and Serena Williams withdrew for various injuries (Sharapova didn’t participate to this tournament).

Agnieszka  won a tricky match against a surprising Yulia Putintseva from Kazakhstan 7-5 6-3 in one hour and 49 minutes.  The world no.4 will play Kvitova (7-5 7-6 on Ana Ivanovic) in the quarters. Head to head is 3-1 for Kvitova, but Radwanska that won the last match in Istanbul.

Inspired by the presence of Diego Maradona, Sara Errani won 6-4 6-4 against Sorana Cirstea in 96 minutes to face Nadia Petrova (6-1 6-3 on Suarez Navarro) in the quarters. Head to head is 1-1.

Roberta Vinci had a fine match to upset Angelique Kerber 7-5 6-1 in just 71 minutes. The Italian will play Sam Stosur (6-4 6-0 on Hsieh) in the quarters. Head to head is 1-0 for Sam Stosur.

In the last quarter Caroline Wozniacki (6-0 6-1 on Zheng) will play Marion Bartoli. Head to Head is 5-2 for Wozniacki.
