Nadal wins a tough match against Ferrer in Madrid

Before January we were talking about the Big 4, but Nadal was a sort of… “ok, maybe he wil be part of the big fours once again…” Now the situation has reversed. Suprisingly enough, Rafa is the only Big 4 alive in Madrid.

Nadal – Ferrer 4-6, 7-6(3), 6-0

This was a very tough one. David won the first set and Rafa found himself really struggling to remain alive in the second as Ferrer got a 4-2 lead. Then Rafa managed to break David again to be 2 points from defeat when he was 5-6 15-30 down on his serve. Finally the Mallorcan found his way to win the second set and to cruise in the third against an imploded Ferrer.

From Rafa

“I think he played a very high level first two sets; third one he went down a little bit. I think that he did really well with his crosscourt backhand and with his forehand. We know he has a really good forehand. David is pretty solid right now.” said Rafa

The semis against Andujar

Rafa wil play the semifinal against fellow Spaniard world no.113 Pablo Andujar that has defeated Nishikori 6-3 7-5. Head to head is 1-0 for Rafa
