Shelton also took time to recognize his opponent in the final, Taylor Fritz, who pushed him in a thrilling three-set battle. “I want to congratulate Taylor. This was a crazy match to be a part of. I thought your level was amazing. What you’ve done this year dealing with adversity, fighting through injuries, the competitor that you are, the work that your team does. You’re an inspiration to all” Shelton added.

Ranked no.9, Shelton played his last match on the 15th of February when he defeated world no.7 Taylor Fritz 3-6 6-3 7-5 in the final in Dallas to win his 4th career title.
