After a successful trial period during the preseason, ATP world number 58 Aleks Kovacevic has officially added David Witt to his coaching team. Witt is currently with the Illini Tennis alum in Brisbane, marking the start of their collaboration on the ATP Tour.
Witt’s coaching background
David Witt is recognized for his extensive coaching career. He worked with Venus Williams for over a decade and most recently coached Frances Tiafoe, helping him rise in the rankings and achieve notable results. “David has been a great coach for me, and I’ve learned a lot from him,” Frances Tiafoe said in 2022 (ESPN). Witt’s arrival is expected to provide Kovacevic with valuable tactical insight and experience.
Kovacevic’s existing support
Kovacevic will continue to be coached by Damion Jackson, ensuring continuity in his training. The addition of Witt complements Jackson’s role, creating a dual coaching structure that blends familiarity with fresh expertise.
Kovacevic’s new setup comes at a crucial time as the season begins in Australia, where he will test his team against top-level competition. The combination of Jackson’s ongoing guidance and Witt’s proven track record offers a strong foundation for his ambitions in 2026.
