Elina Svitolina has shared in an interview about her love affair with Gael Monfils. At the beginning of their relationship, she said that they spoke very less though they played the same tournaments most of the times. She says: “I have been knowing Gael for some time because we constantly play the same tournaments. But we were speaking to each other very less: he knew I had had a relationship for a long time.”
How Svitolina met Gael Monfils?
Svitolina talks about how she met Gael in Paris. She said that she had been to Paris with her friends and that she posted a photo on Instagram to which Gael texted, and they met, and they promised each other that they would never separate. The meeting was a coincidence as she lives in London while Gael lives in Geneva.
She remembers her first trip with Gael when they went to her country of birth, Ukraine. About that Svitolina says: “That was our first trip together in Ukraine. I am happy Gael liked it. He liked Kiev, he was happy with Odessa and, most of all, of the Ukrainian food.”
Monfils on Dating Svitolina
The Frenchman is also very happy with his relationship with Svitolina and says:
“I confirm that it is going very well, but it was already the case before with my previous girlfriends. This relationship is more publicized because she is one of the best players in the world.”
During their visit to Ukraine, some pics were published which Svitolina considers a little bit of invasion of her privacy but then reflects that it is expected. She says:
“That’s a bit bothering, you have no privacy, but that’s part of our job. We have a packed calendar so hanging out is a luxury which we can rarely afford. But when we manage to find a free day, we go to a romantic city, and we spend some time alone together. We played in different cities and in between tournaments, we met each other in Paris for 24 hours walking by streets and eating nice food.”
