Naomi Osaka beats Aliaksandra Sasnovich in the 3rd round in Madrid.

Naomi Osaka continued with her impressive performance on clay. She beat Aliaksandra Sasnovich, 6-2 6-3 to reach the quarterfinals in Madrid. This is the first time that Osaka has reached the quarterfinals of this tournament.

The match

The world no.1 won the first three games of the opening set and saved two breaking points to make it 5-2 in the first set. Osaka was emphatic in the last game of the set wherein she took 0-40 lead and earned three set points. She won the first set 6-2. In the second set, there were 3 consecutive service breaks. Osaka broke in the 2nd game only to lose her service in the next game, however, she again broke Sasnovich in the 4th game (3-1). Thereafter she held on her serve to win the 2nd set 6-3.

Osaka won the match 6-2 6-3 in 1 hour and 23 minutes.

Osaka played some very high level of tennis. She has been very consistent with her tennis and is getting better on clay every day. Osaka needs just one win now to remain world no.1. She will require to reach to the semifinals to retain her top ranking in the world.
