AUGER ALIASSIME. Beating Tsitsipas gave me the confidence

Felix is getting more and more confidence

Stefanos Tsitsipas Felix Auger Aliassime

Success seems to have come early to Felix Auger-Aliassime, but he is trying to remain grounded as his father advises him. Top stars like Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, and Alexander Zverev have all praised him for his great tennis abilities. Auger-Aliassime himself feels that he has been perhaps a little early on the big stage. It is a dream come true for him and he is certainly enjoying it.

With his form and confidence, he seems all set to start his campaign well in the Barcelona event. He is certainly the player to watch out for. Reaching the final of the Rio de Janeiro and a semifinal in Miami has helped the young star to make it in the top 40 ATP rankings.

About beating Tsitsipas

Auger-Aliassime gained a lot of confidence from his first win against a top 10 ranked player, Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Indian Wells tournament in March this year. (6-4 6-2) Here is what he said after his win against the Greek:

“It helped that I knew him from the juniors. For me to win that first match against Tsitsipas on the ATP Tour is important because it was a bit of a statement that we can also win and compete with these top guys. It gave me confidence, but I’ve played him before, so it wasn’t a big surprise.”

He is also feeling great about being seeded for the first time in a big tournament:

“Being seeded for the first time is a bit different and a nice feeling, but I can’t focus too much on results because I don’t have my marks here. It’s a new tournament for me, so I just want to keep competing well and play my game.”

With his form, consistency and confidence, The 6’4” right-hander will surely be looking forward to having a good run in the Barcelona Open.
