Back in 2006, Marcos Baghdatis from Cyprus put the Greek community in Melbourne (and around the world) on fire with his incredible run that ended in the Australian Open final. Stefanos Tsitsipas and Maria Sakkari are reviving those feelings with their great tennis and sparkling personalities.
On Saturday, Stefanos and Maria had dinner with the local Greek community and on Monday, both received amazing support when playing their first round (almost at the same time).
With the support of their fans, Tsitsipas defeated Matteo Berrettini 6-7 (3) 6-4 6-3 7-6(4) and Sakkari defeated Jelena Ostapenko.
