Rafael Nadal had a great 2018 after winning 5 tournaments, his 11th Roland Garros (!!!) and ending the season as world no.2.
However, the Spanish sensation struggled a lot by the end of the season with his knee and eventually, he managed to complete only 1 tournament on hard courts in 2018, the Roger Cup in Toronto that he won after beating Tsitsipas in the final.
Unfortunately, we do not expect Nadal playing many tournaments on hard courts in 2019, but he still needs to have a proper preparation to have a good start of the season in Australia where he will try to go deep again in Melbourne where he was the runner-up in 2017, and he withdrew in the quarters against Marin Cilic in 2018.
Why Uncle Toni is optimistic about Nadal’s 2019
Rafa has been training hard at his Academy, and uncle Toni is optimistic about his preparation to comment
“Rafa trained two and a half hours the other day and is on the right track. He is eager to have a good season.”

Rafa will play the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi the 28th of December. That will be an interesting test about his physical and mental condition.
