Nadal beats Tsitsipas to win the title in Toronto

Once again, Rafael Nadal was too good for everyone!

The Spanish Legend was opposed to Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Toronto final, and he was the hot favorite for 2 reasons: first, the Greek was dead tired after an exhausting run; second, Nadal is… Nadal.

The final

As forecasted, Nadal started the final in the best possible way to grab a 6-2 3-1 lead in no time. When everything was pointing to a quick dismissal, Tsitsipas’ great heart kicked in, and the Greek broke Nadal when the Spaniard was trying to serve out the match when leading 5-4. After holding his serve (5-5), Stefanos put a lot of pressure in the following game to Nadal that had to save a set point with the help of the net. Eventually, everything went to the tiebreak that Nadal won at 4. The final result was 6-2 7-6 (4).

It’s a great way to start the hard-court season. NADAL

Rafa was particularly happy with this title to comment

“If you told me this two weeks ago I would not have believed it. It’s a great way to start the hard-court season. Winning in Toronto is so important. You don’t win Masters 1000s very often. It’s a very important victory for me, and I’m very happy.”

This is Rafa’s 33rd master and his 80th title. He is definitely going for more next week in Cincinnati.
