Nadal wins his 11th Roland Garros!

It’s Rafa no.11!

The King of Clay plays beyond time in Paris to clinch his 11th Roland Garros after dismissing Dominic Thiem in straight sets.

Once again, Rafa was absolutely no match for his opponent, especially in the last 2 sets.

The final

Ranked no.8, Dominic Thiem seemed to be the only player that had the opportunity to defeat Rafa on clay this year. In fact, the Austrian managed to beat Nadal in the quarters in Madrid where the conditions are extremely fast, However, at the French Open the environment is completely different with a very slow and heavy court that is perfect for the world no.1.

The match lasted only 1 set as Thiem was battling hard till the 10th game when he succumbed to nerves and he dropped his service game at love (6-4).

That was it! Rafa had no problems in winning the following 2 sets after getting an early lead on both occasions (4-1, 3-1).

The final score was 6-4 6-3 6-2.

This is Rafa’s 17th slam, his 11th Roland Garros, and his 79th career title!

There is no limit. NADAL

Soon after the match, Rafa commented

“You can always improve something, and I think that everyone can improve. There is no limit. You never know where is the limit.

If you don’t have the will to improve, you don’t understand the sport, because the sport is always about improving. That’s the meaning of sport. It’s playing with the dream of doing something better than what you’re doing before.

When you’re not working with the passion of doing something better, I think that sports will lose its sense.”
