Naomi Osaka is mentally and physically tired and she badly needs a couple of weeks of rest before competing in Singapore for the finals.
The Japanese was scheduled to play in Hong Kong where she was seeded no.2, but despite a very good draw (she would have played a qualifier in the 1st and 2nd match), she decided not to compete because of the back injury sustained in Beijing.
Naomi reached the quarters last year when she lost to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-3 6-3.
Greeting her fans
However, the Japanese decided to still go to Hong Kong to greet her fans at Victoria Park.
