There are many uncertainties during these days, but 1 thing is for sure: Belinda Bencic wants to play the Olympics with Roger Federer. Roger and Belinda won together the last 2 editions of the Hopman Cup in 2018, 2019. The last one was an epic as they conquered a winner-take-all point in the final against Sascha Zverev and Angelique Kerber after a thrilling rally. Roger and Belinda are quite used to play together and Federer is exceptionally strong in playing mixed doubles. Therefore, if they decide to team-up, they will be the top favorites at the Games.
Recently Belinda had to reply to a question about if she wanted to play mixed doubles at the Olympic Games in Tokyo this year. Of course, there are 2 conditions: that the Olympics will be staged and that Roger will play them.
“Sure. But it also depends on whether there will be an Olympics. I hope Roger will still play, I would love to play with him again,” said Belinda.

Now ranked no.12, the Swiss played her last match on the 16th of September 2020 when she capitulated to Danka Kovinic 6-3 6-1 in the 2nd round in Rome (draw).

Ranked no.5, Federer played his last match on the 30th of January 2020 when he lost to Novak Djokovic 7-6(1) 6-4 6-3 in the semifinal of the Australian Open (draw).
