Zverev shocked after Djokovic’s default at the US Open

Sascha Zverev expresses his feelings after Djokovic was disqualified at the US Open for hitting a lines judge

Sascha Zverev About Djokovic Being Disqualified

Alexander Zverev and Novak Djokovic are in fantastic terms and the German was sincerely shocked after Novak defaulted at the US Open. The world no.1 was extremely unlucky to hit a line judge at the throat. Fortunately, the line judge was fine after the episode, but Djokovic had to be disqualified.

Sascha Zverev’s reaction

This was “good news” for Sascha in terms of his opportunity to finally win his maiden slam since also Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer are missing in action in New York. However, besides the obvious comment that there will be a “new slam champion”, Sascha was shocked for Novak’s accident to comment:

“I mean, look, it’s unfortunate. He hit a ball, he hit a tennis ball. It’s very unfortunate that, you know, he hit the line judge, and especially where it hit her. Yeah, there is a rule in place for it. I think the supervisors and all of them are just doing their job. But, yeah, very unlucky for Novak.

I think he’s going to be a little bit upset about it, but, he if he would have hit it anywhere else, if it would have landed anywhere else, we are talking about a few inches, he would have been fine. So, yeah, very unlucky.

The decision was made I think by the supervisors, and as I said, they are just doing their job. There is nothing much else I can say to that. I’m a little bit in shock right now, to be honest.”
