Novak Djokovic crashes out the US Open in the worst possible way after defaulting for hitting a judge line in the 4th round in New York on Sunday. The Serbian champion was particularly tense as he was struggling with his shoulder. Novak looked already nervous to dangerously slams balls after losing points. Eventually, after being broken in the 11th game, (accidentally) Novak hit a judge line with a ball and apparently she had to go to the hospital.
Novak Djokovic, the #1 tennis player in the world, was disqualified from US Open after accidentally hitting line judge in the throat with a tennis ball.
Prior to today, Djokovic was undefeated all year and was the clear favorite to win the tournament.

Djokovic’s statement and apology
Novak later defaulted and he refused to have a press conference to release the following statement:
“This whole situation has left me really sad and empty. I checked on the lines person and the tournament told me that thank God she is feeling ok. I‘m extremely sorry to have caused her such stress. So unintended. So wrong. I’m not disclosing her name to respect her privacy. As for the disqualification, I need to go back within and work on my disappointment and turn this all into a lesson for my growth and evolution as a player and human being.
I apologize to the @usopen tournament and everyone associated for my behavior. I’m very grateful to my team and family for being my rock support, and my fans for always being there with me. Thank you and I’m so sorry.”
This was a huge occasion for Novak (17 majors) to close up to Roger Federer (20) and Rafael Nadal (19) in terms of slam record as both were not playing in the American slam.
