Frances Tiafoe is one of the most entertaining tennis players on tour. The American is extremely effective in combining his incredible physicality with creative shots.
Frances has also a very interesting story. His family migrated from Sierra Leone and his father was a janitor at a tennis centre in Maryland while his mother used to work hard as a nurse. Tiafoe picked up the love for the sport by chance when hanging around at the tennsi centre where his father was working.
Frances has a fantastic character and he can’t forget his origins. During a recent interview, the American stressed the fact that besides winning, his priority is to help black people to play tennis that is a sport that is expensive to practice.
“I want to be known as a guy who was caring for the fans, a guy who wants to really build an unbelievable legacy. My goal is to help more black people play tennis ultimately, and just to be a good role model.
It’s got to be a priority. You’ve got to be able to sacrifice certain things. You can argue I sacrificed doing normal things, just being a kid. But I was having the time of my life, so I was really just enjoying it and that’s all I wanted to do. I was different than a lot of other kids.”
