Matteo Berrettini has had a good season. The 23-year-old reached the semifinals of the US Open and has qualified for the ATP Finals. The finals will begin next week at the O2 Arena in London. The world No.8 has also made some headlines off the court. The 23-year-old started dating Ajla Tomljanovic this year.

Ajla was in The Italian box at the US Open cheering on the Italian. She then dined with Berrettini at a New York restaurant. The couple did not confirm the rumors that they were dating. The Australian had previously dated Nick Kyrgios. The 26-year-old began her relationship with Kyrgios in 2015 and the two dated for some time. They split up in 2017. Berrettini and Ajla have been since the US Open. She was at the Vienna Open cheering on her 23-year-old boyfriend. The Italian reached the semifinals where he lost to Dominic Thiem.

With the off-season now approaching, Berrettini has spoken about his relationship with Ajla. In an interview with La Gazzetta, the Italian said that the two rarely get to spend time together. Since they are both tennis players, they travel around the world for different tournaments and the long-distance makes it hard for them to communicate. However, the couple makes the most of technology and use video chatting as a means of staying in touch. Matteo also disclosed some of their shared interests. The 23-year-old said, “We are two quiet people, we share a passion for dogs and TV series.”

Berrettini won two singles titles this year and is currently 8th on the ATP rankings, a career-high for the Italian. His girlfriend is 51st on the WTA rankings. The 26-year-old reached the final of the Hua Hin Open in Thailand. She lost in the final to Dayana Yatremeska. Ajla may be present in London to support her boyfriend as he makes his debut in the last tournament of the season.
The Italian will play in a tough group at the ATP Finals. The group consists of Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Dominic Thiem. He will play his first match against Djokovic. The meeting will be the first match between the two. The Italian played Federer at Wimbledon earlier this year. He lost the match in straight sets to exit the tournament at the round of sixteen. He also has a losing record against Thiem who has won two of the three matches they have played in their careers. The tournament will begin on 10th November.
