Nick Kyrgios has a rather difficult start of his 2018 campaign.
The Australian has been struggling with minor injuries for his entire (young) career, and he has to deal with another one in Brisbane in his first match of the season.
Nick had to face his compatriot Matthew Ebden in the Brisbane International opener, but he was struggling from the very beginning with his left leg (just behind his knee). The scene was the usual one with Kyrgios shaking his head at almost every point and the physiotherapist constantly on the court. The big difference with the past was that the Australian kept on playing after losing the first set to eventually win the match 6-7 (3) 7-6 (5) 6-2.
It was good enough to play. KYRGIOS
Soon after the match during the on-court interview, Kyrgios commented
“I haven’t been feeling anything coming into the tournament and couple of days ago I started feeling it.It was a bit surprising, but it was still good enough to play.”
Next vs. Dolgopolov
Kyrgios will now play against the world no.38 Alexandr Dolgopolov. The head to head is 1-0 for Australian. This will be a match to watch.
