Emma Raducanu has recently started to prepare her 2022 with her new coach Torben Beltz. Emma hit the headlines after announcing she parted ways with coach Andrew Richardson which helped her win a historic US Open title.
Eventually, Emma decided to partner with Torben, who was instrumental for Angelique Kerber to win 3 slams and become the world’s number 1.
Former top player and 7-time slam champion Mats Wilander was against the move stating that Emma had to preserve her freedom. However, top commentator Annabel Croft suggested that indeed Raducanu was right to hire Wilander to say:
“I think with a new coach in place; I think she’ll be very good. He’s incredibly experienced; it’s early days. How long will they stick together? There’s a feeling that none of these coaches are going to be given long-term contracts, so we’ll see how long it goes, but I think she’s chosen somebody who is very experienced, which is what she wanted.”
During the preseason, and Emma Raducanu will spend some time in the Middle East, where she will also face Belinda Bencic in the prestigious Mubadala World Tennis Championship. On the 17th of December, she will go to Australia, where she hopes to have another great run in the local major.
