Nadal tames Khachanov

Rafael Nadal plays an outstanding match against an ever-dangerous Karen Khachanov in Beijing. The upcoming Russian has definitely the arsenal to beat anyone, but Rafa’s consistency today was just too much.

The match

Rafa had to save immediately 3 break points in the very first game (0-40). That was a temporary setback as the Spaniard broke Karen in the 4th game (3-1) before winning the opener 6-3. Rafa had to battle hard again in his first service game of the second set to save once again 3 break points (15-40 and 40-AD) before breaking the Russian soon after (2-1). The world no.1 kept his focus for the rest of the match, and after breaking Khachanov again in the 9th game, Nadal won the contest 6-3 6-3 in 89 minutes.

Happy about the match today

Soon after his win, Rafa commented

“Happy about the match today. I think I played a solid match. Tomorrow will be a tough one against Isner; he’s playing unbelievably well. I saw his match today. He played huge. So, let’s see what’s going on tomorrow.”

Rafa has a 6-0 record against the American giant, let’s see if he can keep it immaculate.
