Shapovalov his having a fantastic season!

At only 18 years of age, the upcoming Canadian has impressed the tennis world after he reached the semi-finals in Montreal following his incredible win over Juan Martin Del Potro and Rafael Nadal. Denis backed up his run in Canada with a great performance at the US Open where he reached the 4th round coming straight from the qualifications (that means that he won 6 matches on the way).

Denis has been invited by John McEnroe, the captain of the Rest of the World team, to compete in the Laver Cup, and he explains why he is so happy about that. Shapovalov commented

“It’s been a huge year for me, and John McEnroe’s invitation to join Team World at the Laver Cup really tops it off. To compete against legends like Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer is a rare opportunity. I can’t wait to travel to Prague for this new team event. I won’t be taking any of it for granted.”

Denis has just scored two crucial points for Team Canada in the Davis Cup playoff against India last weekend to qualify his team for the World Group. He is ready for more in Prague.
