Emma Raducanu has confirmed her withdrawal from next week’s Linz Open as she continues her recovery to full fitness. The British player has not competed since the WTA 1000 in Indian Wells in early March, where she was defeated by Amanda Anisimova in the third round with a score of 6-1, 6-1.
Health struggles and missed events
Raducanu has been sidelined since falling ill during the Middle East swing. She pulled out of the Miami WTA 1000 and later withdrew from the Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers, where Great Britain will face Australia on April 10 and 11. Her absence from Linz further extends her time away from competition.
Plans for clay season return
Not yet at full strength, Raducanu is taking the time to recover before rejoining the tour during the European clay-court season. She is expected to make her comeback at the WTA 1000 in Madrid at the end of April, followed by Rome and Roland Garros.
Previous clay results
In 2025, Raducanu lost in the second round at Roland Garros against Iga Swiatek and fell at the same stage in Madrid against Marta Kostyuk. She reached the round of 16 in Rome, where she faced Coco Gauff. These performances showed glimpses of her potential on clay, and her return this spring will be closely watched.
Raducanu’s decision to skip Linz highlights her focus on long-term recovery, with hopes of regaining form in time for the major clay events of the season.

At the moment ranked no.28, Raducanu played her last match on the 8th of March when she lost to world no.6 Amanda Anisimova 6-1 6-1 in the 3rd round in Indian Wells (draw).

Raducanu will compete next in (Madrid (W15)). She will start the tournament from the main draw that will commence on the 1st of January.
