DOPING Errani banned for 2 months for… eating pasta!

Sara Errani is at the center of a rather quirky controversy.

For the last few hours, her name was associated with a terrible word: DOPING.

What happened?

Apparently, Sara had a drug test the 16th of February at her parent’s house where she stayed for a couple of weeks. Unfortunately, the Italian failed the test as the sample sent to the WADA laboratory contained letrozole, which is an aromatase inhibitor that is included in the Hormone and Metabolic Modulators category of the WADA Prohibited List. This substance is commonly used in the treatment of breast cancer.

According to Sara’s mother, the Italian ingested the substance unintentionally when she was cooking pasta for her parents. In fact, Sara’s mother is a cancer survivor as she has been battling cancer since 2005.

The ban

Sara is banned for two months from August the 3rd till October the 2nd and all she will lose all the points and the prize money accumulated from the 16th of February (when she was tested positive) and the 7th of June (when she tested negative).

Eating pasta could be bad for you!
