Jamie Murray, Martina Hingis win the mixed doubles

We have a Murray among the Wimbledon champions this year, but it’s not Andy.

Jamie Murray wins the mixed doubles with Martina Hingis after they defeated Heather Watson and Henri Kontinem 6-4 6-4 in the final.

Big thanks to Martina. MURRAY

Soon after the match, Jamie commented

“I have to thank Martina for asking me as I wasn’t going to play mixed doubles. When she texted me, it was an easy decision to play; she’s such a great player. Anyone in the locker room would have jumped at the chance to play with her. I really enjoyed the whole week. It’s a great achievement. Any time you win a grand slam, get your name up on the board again, it’s there forever. No one will take it away from you.”

This is Martina’s 6th slam title in mixed doubles; she has won 12 slams in doubles and 5 majors in singles. That’s a significant record.

After winning this title, Jamie and Martina pocketed £100,000. It helps.
