Becker: “Why Murray should not play the US Open”

Andy Murray has managed to reach the quarters in Wimbledon, and because of the hip injury that he has been nursing from the beginning of the tournament, he could not have achieved more.

The Scot got the advice of taking some rest to avoid surgery, and there are rumors around that he might skip the US Open.

Why Becker thinks that it’s good if he doesn’t play the US Open.

During a recent interview with the BBC, Boris commented

“He has got to think long term, not worry about making the US Open — if he is moving there as he did at Wimbledon, then he won’t win it anyway,” the German said.

“His ranking should not be a concern either. Again, he will not defend it if he is not healthy, so he should just forget it. He has been there and done it, and he does not have to prove anything anymore that he is good enough to be number one.”

The US Open will take place in 8 weeks’ time. It’s probably a good idea for Andy to forget about that.
