Ranked No. 3, Karolina Pliskova is in a good position to win a Grand Slam tournament in the coming future. The Czech tennis player will be entering the U.S. Open with an even more crowded slate, which will make it difficult for her to achieve her first win. But if there is one person who has the ability to pull off a standout performance, it is Pliskova. The former world No. 1 has a total of 19 WTA titles and 16 ITF titles, which gives her a prime position for a victory.

Karolina Pliskova bio, husband and family

Currently 27, Karolina was born as a twin to Radek and Martina Pliskova in the town of Louny in the Czech Republic. Pliskova saw tennis greats like Marat Safin and Martina Hingis growing up. This developed a love and passion for tennis in the twins, with Karolina and her sister Kristyna deciding to pursue a professional career in the sports later on.

While their professional careers blossomed later on their life, the Pliskova twins did not exactly have the rosiest childhoods. When they were 13, their father was arrested and sent to jail for two years because of tax fraud charges.

Pliskova is married to her TV presenter husband Michal Hrdlička. Before their marriage, the two dated each other for three years. They got married in a ceremony in Monte Carlo in 2018, which was attended only by close family and friends.

Height, Career and Professional Life

Pliskova first became a serious presence in the world stage in 2010, when she defeated Brit player Laura Robson to take home the junior title in the Australian Open. She first qualified for the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament in the 2012 edition of the French Open, bowing to then-world No. 8 Marion Bartoli.

The Czech player achieved her first WTA title in the 2013 Malaysian Open, prevailing over American ace BethanieMattek-Sands in three sets. By 2015, her consistent performance landed her in the no. 11 spot in the world rankings. She then reached the finals of the U.S. Open the next year, barely losing to then-incoming No. 1 Angelique Kerber.

Pliskova surprised many in 2017 when she reached no. 1 in the rankings. With her achievement, she became the sixth player to reach the peak position even without winning a Grand Slam.

The Czech player, who stands tall at 6’1”, currently holds the record of the most aces in a WTA Tour match, with 31 aces. Pliskova is knwon as having an aggressive playing style, with accurate mid-court shots and forceful groundstrokes.
