Jo Konta and Donna Vekic played a fantastic match on center court in the Wimbledon 2nd round.

After exchanging the first two sets, Jo and Donna engaged in a fierce battle in the decider as none of them were willing to drop their service game. Eventually, it was Jo to conquer this 3 hours and 10 minutes marathon with an incredible score line, 7-6 (4) 4-6 10-8.

At the end of the match, Donna sobbed at the net, and Jo was extremely graceful giving her a big hug.

Soon after the match, Jo commented

“Both of us deserved to win. I think it was one of those matches where, yeah, it was going just to be decided at the very last minute.”

Talking about Donna emotions, Jo added

“I think after such a battle, you kind of feel both your own and her emotions Because there wasn’t much separating us I could easily put myself in her shoes and feel what she was feeling. As players, we have all been in that position.”

Next vs. Sakkari

Jo will play the world no.101 Maria Sakkari from Greece in the 3^rd round. They have never played each other so far.
