Federer happy to reach the Halle final

Roger Federer is just 1 step away from winning his 9th title in Halle. The Swiss had to pass a tough test in the semi-final when he played rising star Karen Khachanov. Roger wasn’t perfect against the Russian to win the opening set after three consecutive breaks in the first three games. In the second set everything looked set after Roger won a crucial break in the 9th game (5-4), but then the Swiss failed to serve out the match, and everything went to the breaker. Khachanov got a 5-4 lead before Federer conquered the following 3 points to win the encounter 6-4 7-6 (5).

Why Roger was happy.

Soon after the match, Roger commented

“I thought it was extremely close, especially that second set… I’m still just very happy how I was able to close it out in the ‘breaker.”
