Muller wins his 2nd career title in s-Hertogenbosch

Early in the season, at 34 years of age, Gilles Muller won his first career title in Sydney. Gilles was extremely emotional about that because at his age he thought he would have never been able to win an ATP tournament. Eventually, Muller doubled it up after winning the ATP250 in ‘s-Hertogenbosch on Sunday.

Muller won the tournament after beating Ivo Karlovic in the final 7-6 (5) 7-6 (4). This was a typical “Karlovic’s match” with the contest going straight to the breakers in both sets without any break points.

The weird stat is that Muller blasted more aces than Karlovic (22 vs. 19).

We should start straight from the tie-breaks. MULLER

After the match, Gilles commented

“I think we should make a suggestion to the ATP that we just start with the tie-break next time!

It’s always tough to play Ivo, and I’m glad I could beat him. I had many friends and a lot of families coming, so it’s been a great week here.”

Muller will now head to the Queen’s club where he will play Basilashvili in the first round.
