Nadal demolishes Paire in straight set

Rafael Nadal starts his Roland Garros campaign in the best possible way after he conceded just six games to Benoit Paire. Besides one (little) moment of glory for Benoit when he was leading 3-1 in the second set, the Spaniard was no match for Paire to win 6-1 6-4 6-1 without much hassle.

Not happy with his serve. NADAL

After the match, Rafa wasn’t pleased with one part of his game to comment

“For me, it’s important to serve a little bit better than what I did today… I feel that some moments I was not serving that well. The rest of the things I am happy with.”

Next vs. Haase

Rafa will play Haase in the the second round. The head to head is 2-0 for Rafa that had to defeat the Dutchman in 5 sets on grass in their first match.

Talking about his upcoming opponent, Rafa commented

“I know him very well and he knows me very well. He’s a dangerous opponent. He hits the ball very hard. So I need to be very focused on the serve because returning him can be tough. I’ll do my utmost, which is always what I do when I practise, when I play a match. I put out my best tennis… I’m not particularly obsessed about anything in particular, except that I have to play my best tennis. Then we’ll see what’s going to happen.”
