Murray survives Ramos-Vinolas

Andy Murray reaches the semifinal in Barcelona after defeating an extremely tough Albert Ramos-Vinolas. The Spaniard had a sensational tournament last week in Monte Carlo where he reached the final beating Muray on the way, and he tried to repeat himself in Barcelona. Albert was the huge hurdle that Andy Murray had to overcome in the quarters. After losing the first set 6-2 (same as Monte Carlo), Andy won the second set after breaking Albert in the last game following a huge battle. Things got even more complicated in the decider when Ramos-Vinolas had the opportunity to serve out the match when he was leading 5-4. Finally, the Briton broke Albert to win the decisive set in the breaker. The final result was 2-6 6-4 7-6 (4).

It was a tough match. MURRAY

Andy lost to Ramos-Vinolas in 3 sets last week, but this time he has found the solution. The Briton commented

“It was obviously a very tough match. It was kind of the opposite of the match we had last week, where probably today he deserved to win, he created a lot more chances, he served for the match and couldn’t quite get it.

Last week I had 4-0, I felt like I had all of the chances and sometimes on clay matches happen this way, so I’m very happy to get through.

I started coming to the net more and volleying, I felt like I started to dictate more of the points and that was a big difference.”

The semi vs. Thiem

Andy will have an extremely tough semifinal against an in-form Dominic Thiem. The head to head is 2-0 for Murray, but the Austrian is extremely dangerous on clay.
