Even if Andy Murray didn’t manage to play or support his Davis Cup team, last week he was still contributing (in a way) to the cause of his country.
Andy’s (new found) compatriot Aljaz Bedene won the Sophia Antipolis challenger after he defeated Benoit Paire 6-2 6-2 in the final. Aljaz was extremely happy for winning his 13 Challenger, and he was also very pleased with receiving the trophy from Andy Murray that is currently preparing his clay court season at the same venue with the Mouratoglou Tennis Academy.
From Bedene
After winning the title, Aljaz commented
“It was a perfect week for me. This tournament is at the ATP World Tour level, that’s for sure. I feel great winning this title and I was consistent throughout the tournament, so it’s a good sign for the future.”
Then the Brit posted on Facebook
“Great week in Sophia-Antipolis @mouratoglouacademy. Nice to receive the trophy from royalty in @andy_murray as well’”
