Karolina Pliskova seems to be on her way for something important: being the new world no.1
In theory, the Czech can achieve that if she wins Indian Wells and Miami. That should not happen, but Serena Williams will probably not compete in all tournaments this season as she is struggling with many physical issues, and Angelique Kerber is having a rather lousy run in 2017. Therefore, the next in line for the top rank is definitely Pliskova.
The Czech had to battle hard in the Indian Wells quarters against Garbine Muguruza even if she had a strong lead in both sets (4-1 in the first and 5-2 in the second). The Spaniard was very tricky to tame, and eventually, the world no.3 won the contest only after a double breaker. The final result was 7-6 (2) 7-6 (5).

My best match of the tournament. PLISKOVA
After the win, Karolina commented
“Definitely the best match for me in this tournament. , like, it was against a good player, so the level ultimately goes a little bit more up.
I just feel always quite good against her. Doesn’t matter in which shape I am. I didn’t have that good matches in the tournament, but with her, always, the level is a little bit higher.”
The semi vs. Kuznetsova
Karolina will play the final four against Svetlana Kuznetsova. The head to head is 1-all.
