At 35 years of age, Roger Federer is definitely playing one of the best tennis of his remarkable career. The Swiss amazed all of us after winning a sensational Australian Open after beating Nadal in five sets in the final, and on Thursday he repeated himself in Indian Wells. Actually, this time Roger had absolutely no issues in defeating his nemesis 6-2 6-3 in just 68 minutes.
The match
It was evident from the very beginning that things were tough for Rafa today against the Maestro. In fact, Roger broke the Spaniard in the very first game to break him again in the 5th (4-1). Therefore, it was a piece of cake for the Swiss to win the opener 6-2.
Rafa started in style the second set after holding serve at love to send an ominous message to his opponent: “I am not done.” Roger replied with another hold at love to then break Rafa again (2-1) and then hold serve (3-1). The rest is history: Roger broke Rafa again in the 9th game to win the match.
Federer broke Rafa 4 times while he conceded (and saved) only a break point. In the second set, the Maestro dropped just 3 points on his serve.
This is the third consecutive time that Roger beats Rafa and now he is 13-23 down in head to head matches. The Spaniard is not a nightmare anymore for him.
