Federer, Murray warm up on the beach in Dubai

Roger Federer and Andy Murray are the biggest names of the upcoming ATP500 in Dubai. Both are leading the ATP rankings (Roger in the YTD, Andy the “traditional” one), and they are expected to have a deep run in the tournament.

Roger and Andy enjoyed some paddle tennis on the sand nearby the iconic Burj Al Arab. This was the perfect occasion also to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the tournament.

Roger has won the event already seven times, and he is looking forward to trying to get his 8th title. The Swiss legend commented

“I’m looking forward to playing, especially on the anniversary of 25 years here in Dubai. It’s nice to be part of a tournament celebrating something. I’ve had some great years here, and I wanted to be in good shape and ready for the conditions, so I came early this year.

The players like this tournament so much. It’s well organized and well run with good crowds. Today was a nice way to start the celebrations of 25 years. Now I can’t wait for the tournament to start.”

The tournament will start next week, and the defending champion is Stan Wawrinka that last year defeated Baghdatis in the final.
