Nick Kyrgios seems to have bonded pretty well with Daniil Medvedev to become his “fan” especially after he defeated him in the Washington final.
The Australian later took a private jet to fly to Montreal with both Tsitsipas and Medvedev to play the Rogers Cup. Eventually, the Australian was too tired, and he succumbed in the 1st round in Canada to Kyle Edmund to avoid also to face Medvedev again in the 2nd round.
Finally, it was Medvedev again to have a good run in Montreal to reach the semifinal after conceding nothing to his opponents following his wins against Kyle Edmund (6-3 6-0), Christian Garin (6-3 6-3), and Dominic Thiem (6-3 6-1).

Nick Kyrgios wasn’t hesitant in picking Daniil as the favorite to win the Rogers Cup and obviously, many took it as a provocation to Rafael Nadal that seeded no.1 is the favorite for many.
