Venus Williams reaches the Australian Open semi-final after 14 years

Can you believe it? At 36 years of age, Venus Williams reaches the semi-final in Melbourne!

The American is back in the final 4 of the Australian Open without dropping a single set on the way. To be honest, this has been a great run, but we also need to concede that to get there, the American has beaten only two top100 (and no top20). In fact, she has faced Kozlova (no.101), Voegle (112), Duan (87), Barthel (181), and Pavlyuchenkova (27).

In her match against Pavlyuchenkova, Venus had to resort to her immense experience to recover a 1-break down deficit twice per set to win at the photo-finish 6-4 7-6 (3).

I want to go further. VENUS

After the match, Venus commented

“It’s wonderful to be here to start the year out with this. I want to go further! I’m not happy just with this, but I’m just happy to be in the position to go further. “

After this match, Venus is the oldest semi-finalist in a slam since Navratilova reached the semi in Wimbledon 1994.

Venus will play either Muguruza or Vandeweghe in the final 4.
