Konta wins the title in Sydney

Johanna Konta starts her 2017 in a great way. After reaching the semifinal in Shenzhen, the Brit wins the tournament in Sydney without dropping a single set for the entire week.

Johanna was devasting in the final against Agnieszka Radwanska showing an extremely aggressive tennis. After winning the first set, Konta raced in the second to clinch a decisive 4-0 lead. At that point, Aga tried to fight back, but it was too late, and the Brit won the match 6-4 6-2 after 80 minutes.

She played amazing tennis. RADWANSKA

Aga had just to acknowledge her opponent to say

“I can’t remember playing someone like this on that level, that consistent for the whole match. I couldn’t really say that I did something wrong. She was just playing amazing tennis and was aggressive from the first shot.”

After this tournament, Johanna will gain one place in the rankings to be the new world no.9 (career high). More to come.
