KYRGIOS. I am a massive role model for kids

Nick seems to be as confident as ever now that he has gained a new focus

Nick Kyrgios

Nick Kyrgios won probably the most inspiring tournament of his career last week in Washington. This title was so special not only because it was a prestigious ATP500, but also for the fact that the erratic Australian achieved that after following some “routines” and getting rid of some unhealthy habits. This is almost a novelty for Kyrgios that is also well-known for refusing the typical “organized approach” of pro-players. For example, it wasn’t uncommon for him to play official matches without doing even the most basic warm-up.

The new Kyrgios

Soon after winning the trophy in DC, Nick revealed that he wants to stay focussed to comment:

“I just wanted to clean myself up and have healthier habits. It’s only the beginning, and it showed this week by winning this tournament. I feel like I’ve made major strides. I’m just going to take it one day at a time, and hopefully, I can continue on this new path.”

Can Kyrgios inspire other people?

Later on, Nick went even further to state that he wants to inspire people, and he is already a “massive role model for kids.”

Nick commented:

“Like it or not, I’m a massive role model. I’m doing all these kids days at every single tournament. They’re picking me for a reason. I know deep down there’s a lot of kids that look up to me and I need to be better.

I’ve beaten every single one of the best tennis players in the world doing it my way, and I’m never going to stop doing that. I think people can draw inspiration from that. I think you don’t listen to anyone, you just back yourself and believe in yourself, and that’s all matters.”

After Washington, Nick will try to have another good run in Montreal to try to impress again in Canada. Kyrgios is well-known for struggling to play well week-in week-out however if it’s time for him to show something different to stay on this new path.
