The ASB Classic experiences one of the weirdest days in its history. Serena and Venus Williams were the top2 seeds and they were expected to make a killing, but eventually, both crashed out before the quarters.
Serena had a horrendous match against the world no.72 Madison Brengle that she has demolished in 2015 (Rome) 6-0 6-1 to lose in 6-4 6-7 (3) 6-4.
I could not adjust to these conditions. SERENA
The American blamed the extreme wind for her loss to comment
“At least I can get out of these conditions. I would say it’s my least favorite conditions I’ve ever played in. Again, my opponent played in the exact same conditions. She was able to adjust better than me. I really abhorred these conditions.”
This was a horrible day for the Williams’ family in Auckland after also Venus (seeded no.2) had to retire in the second round because of a problem to her right arm.
