Genie Bouchard didn’t have a great run in the last two seasons, but that didn’t prevent her from being hyperactive on the social media “like a 22-year-old”.

Even if Genie is still extremely young, she is aware that given her popularity, she needs to be careful about how she is using the social media. The Canadian has almost 950k followers on twitter, 1.1m followers on Instagram, and 1.4 mil likes on Facebook.

During a recent interview, Genie confesses

“For me, it’s what my generation does. We grew up with Facebook and then slowly Twitter and Instagram came into the picture.

“I’m just doing what my friends, sisters and people my age do and it just so happens that mine has a lot more followers in the public eye. But in a way, I just see myself as posting about the show I saw or my outfit for the day, and that’s what people my age do.

“It’s natural for me in a way. I also know I have to be careful with what I post, but when I’m off the court, I’m a normal 22-year-old.

I enjoy texting and snap chatting to talk to my fans and friends, but I’m not on it all the time and especially during tournaments.”
